Études balkaniques

Balkan Studies

Études balkaniques is a unique interdisciplinary periodical, published quarterly. It welcomes articles on the social, economic, political, demographic, cultural, and religious history of the Balkan peoples and states, as well as on linguistic issues. The journal publishes materials on single Balkan states, on their bilateral relations with other Balkan states, on the Balkans as a region, and on the relations between Balkan states and other regions – the Mediterranean, Western Europe, the Middle East. Some of its issues are dedicated to special themes such as The Image of the Other, the Neighbour in Particular, Tolerance and Non-tolerance, The Reception of Voltaire's works and ideas in the Balkans, Historical, Cultural and Literary Relations between France and Central and Eastern Europe Countries (19th – 20th cent.), and others. It specializes in medieval, early modern, modern and contemporary history, though occasionally contributions dealing with earlier periods, on the archaeology and ancient history of the region, are also published.
