Global Queerness: Sexuality, Citizenship, and Human Rights in the 21st Century

Description of the Conference

This conference brings together students, scholars, athletes, creative writers, human rights advocates, performance artists, and the larger academic and Wooster community to encourage new ways of engaging with LGBTQ issues across disciplines and institutions.
The conference will consist of a roundtable discussions, scholarly panels, a queer international film screening, a celebration to end the gathering and a keynote address by C. Moraga, keynote performances by E. Patrick Johnson and Marga Gomez.  
An atmosphere of diversity and equality will promote acceptance and understanding between individuals of all backgrounds.
This is a queer-focused conference designed for scholars, human rights advocates, creative writers and performance artists to present and discuss their work.
The objective of this conference is to give the possibility to students to continue to cultivate conversations about social change and political movements in public and academic discourse.

Proposals from all disciplines are welcome. Topics suggested are:
