Postdoctoral Research Assistantship at the University of Oxford

Eligibility

The Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages of the University of Oxford is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral research assistant for two years starting on Oct. 1, 2012.
The individual will assist Professor Zorin and Professor Schönle (Queen Mary University of London) in their Leverhulme funded research project, 'The Creation of a Europeanized Elite in Russia: Public Role and Subjective Self'. The project seeks to provide a cultural history of the first Russian Europeanized elite from its emergence during the ‘Petrine reforms’ until 1825. The individual will conduct research in areas related to the project, will organise meetings of the research team and will liaise with consultants working on the project in Russia.
The individual will possess: a PhD/DPhil degree in a subject related to the research submitted by 1 October 2012; a track record of research in eighteenth– early nineteenth century Russia; and fluent language ability in both English and Russian.
