Main scientific activities

  • Member, British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES)
  • Andrew Jameson had a career as Lecturer in Russian Language and Linguistics until "rationalisation" forced the closure of Russian at Lancaster University. His scientific interests include Russian semantics and sociolinguistics, language course development and the practicalities of the translation process. He has a special interest in the origins of sub-standard varieties of Russian. He now works freelance as a translator and lecturer in Russian language and culture.

  • Together with the Society for Cooperation in Russian and Soviet Studies (SCRSS), London; and Dr. Emily Lygo, University of Exeter. Joint project on the early history of the SCR (Society for Cultural Relations with the USSR), 1924-1945. The SCRSS is the successor organisation to the SCR and holds the SCR's archives and libraries.
