Description of the Journal

European and Security Affairs is a journal published by Centre for European & Security Affairs a split Department of Institute for Democracy and Mediation a think tank based in Tirana (Albania). This quarterly journal has been dedicated in the past four years to security sector reform within Albania, the Western Balkan region, as well as EU and Europe in a global context, NATO transformation, etc. The Journal’s main objective is to stimulate debate, analysis and policy discourse on issues that combine conceptual and empirical analyses.

Details for submissions

With the collapse of communism the whole region has undergone a process of transition dealing with various challenges varying from economic, political, as well as energy and environment issues. Environmental security is an important factor in the context of sustainable development and integration processes. With the purpose to promote comprehensive research and policy options in the current issue of the journal, the Institute for Democracy and Mediation’s Centre for European and Security Affairs invites submissions in the area of environmental security.

Please take note that these are the suggested topics, however other ideas on related topics would be taken into consideration from the reviewing board. Comparative but also single case studies that analyze these issues from various perspectives (political science, IR, public policy, economic etc) are encouraged. The journal seeks to publish original work which has not been published previously.

Guidelines for submissions

 The submission(s) should include a abstract of max. 500 words, and a short (150-200 word) bio via e-mail to info@idmalbania.org. For the final submission, the following guidelines should be followed:

- MS Word Document

- Papers should be written in Chicago referencing style:

- Times New Roman, 12pt, single spacing

- Limited to a maximum of 5000 words (including bibliography)

Deadline for abstracts is 30 January 2011, and the deadline for the final submission of approved papers is 28 February 2011.
