Trans-Atlantic Relations from the Perspective of Central Europe

The programme

The EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy organises the European Summer School 2009 (ESS 2009) entitled "Trans-Atlantic Relations from the Perspective of Central Europe".  

The Summer School is structured as an intensive ten days programme which will combine workshops and informal social activities, thus offering participants an academic as well as a cross-cultural experience. Participants of the ESS 2009 will focuses on similarities and differencies in policies and approaches of the European Union and its member states and the United States of America. The courses will emphasize the particular situations of Central European countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) and try to answer the question to which extent the division of Old Europe and New Europe remained.

 

Divided into 6 workshops, the courses will analyse the following topics:

 

Besides the academic knowledge and intellectual training, participants will enjoy their free time in Prague taking part in various special events and tours.

Eligibility

The programme is intended for students who are currently enrolled in a college or university. Applications from students of European studies, political science, international relations, economics, sociology, humanities or journalism interested in the region of Central Europe and in the current political and economic problems will be considered for admission. Submit your application filling in the Online Application Form no later than April 30, 2009.

Costs

The participation fee is 760 EUR/1140 USD, covering tuition, reading materials housing and 2 meals a day (breakfast and lunch), fieldtrips, cultural and special events.
