University School of Croatian Language and Culture

Period: June 28 - July 25, 2008
Location: Zagreb (Croatia)

Academic Program

The academic program comprises of 110 hours with lessons of 45 minutes each. Classes are scheduled Mondays to Fridays, five hours per day.
Language classes include grammar lessons and language exercises to develop communicative skills and improve all other language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). The classes are adjusted to the needs and interests of the participants who choose them according to their teachers' suggestions.

Levels

The Croatian course is offered at three levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced).
When the application is processed and the deposit paid, participants receive a questionnaire and a short Croatian test via e-mail. Filled-out questionnaires and tests should be returned no later than May 20, 2008. Depending on the test results, a short essay and an interview with the teachers, the appropriate level for each student is determined.

Students' obligations

Students are expected to fulfil all classroom tasks (regular attendance, writing homework, working on project
tasks). Students are also expected to get books and manuals according to their teachers' recommendations.

The final exam consists of two parts - written and oral. Students who pass the exam receive a diploma from the University School of Croatian Language and Culture and a certificate of attendance. Diploma will be delivered in a ceremonial event scheduled for the evening on Friday, July 25, 2008.

Cultural Program

In addition to the academic program, students have the chance of visiting museums, art galleries, cultural institutions, theatre productions, concerts; they meet famous artists and public personalities, see the sights of Zagreb, take study trips, etc.
