The program

The Summer School on Crime, Law and Psychology is a week program designed to bring undergraduate and graduate students of various nationalities and academic backgrounds from the USA, Eastern and Western Europe and other parts of the world to learn more about the interrelation of psychology, law and crime. The program aims to invite students, who are interested in application of psychological approaches and research methods to criminal justice system and are willing to combine the challenging academic environment with the holiday fun.
 
The aim of the program is, therefore, to provide students with a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge on the role of psychological knowledge in criminal justice system by listening to the professors from the UK's best Universities, and involving into the interactive debates with guest lectures, practitioners and fellow students. By participating in the program students will benefit not only from enhancing their intellectual resources, but also from sharing ideas with other students during the class discussions and various social events. Exposure to the intercultural experience is also a key element of the program.

The topics

The main topics of the Summer School will discuss the recent research findings in psychology and current trends in the applicability of psychological knowledge in legal practices. The classes will mainly focus on eyewitness testimony, beliefs about eyewitness testimonies, the use of confession evidence, the applicability of expert evidence from psychologists in courts, legal perspectives of psychological profiling, false and recovered memories, false confessions and wrongful convictions.

How to apply

In order to apply, you must fill in and submit an on-line Application Form. You will be asked to paste your recent resume and a statement-of-purpose not to exceed 500 words.
The program fee is 580 EUR; for students, who submit their applications after April 30, 2008 the program fee is 670 EUR.
