Summer School in Comparative Conflict Studies 2014

Description

The Center for Comparative Conflict Studies (CFCCS) at the Faculty of Media and Communications (FMK), Singidunum University invites you to apply for the fifth Summer School in Comparative Conflict Studies. The 2014 Summer School will take place at the Faculty of Media and Communications in Belgrade, from June 30 to July 7, 2014.
The Summer School in Comparative Conflict Studies provides a learning opportunity for students interested in study and analysis of societies in and post-conflict. Interdisciplinary in its nature, drawing from the fields of Conflict Analysis and Resolution, History, philosophy, sociology and International Relations, the Summer School in Comparative Conflict Studies provides students with an interactive learning experience utilizing frontal lectures and class discussions focusing on comparative conflict analysis of different case studies.

Topics

We are now receiving applications for the following four courses to choose from:

  • „Re-Imagining“ the Balkans - Inquiries into diversity, borders and migration
  • Dr. Jelena Tošić (University of Vienna, Austria) 
  • Rethinking Transitional Justice: Lessons from the Balkans and Beyond
  • Dr. Olivera Simić (Griffith University, Australia)
  • From the Discourse of Brotherhood and Unity to the Discourse of EU Integration: the case of "transition" in Serbia
  • Dr. Jelisaveta Blagojević (Singidunum University, Serbia)
  • The Challenge of International Intervention: Balancing Justice and Order
  • Dr. Maxine David (University of Surrey, United Kingdom)

Application Procedure

Those who are interested should fill out the application form (available here) before April 7, 2014.

We invite graduate students, advanced undergraduate students, NGO leaders and civil society activists from all countries to apply.
Reduced tuition is available for applicants from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. This reduced tuition is also available for students from other conflict or post-conflict regions.
Full scholarship awarded by the European Fund for the Balkans is available for 10 strongest selected applicants from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Interested applicants should fill out the additional section in the application form when applying for this scholarship.
