Description

The Russian and Eurasian Security Research Group at the Department of War Studies, King's College London, is pleased to invite you to a one-day workshop 'Doing Fieldwork in Russia and the Former Soviet Union: Challenges and Opportunities'.

The workshop will address issues and concerns associated with being in the field in Russia and the post-Soviet space. The aim of the workshop is to share experiences, offer insights and give useful tips in a friendly and informal setting. We will discuss the following types of data collection: elite interviews, surveys, interviews with everyday actors, participant observation/ethnography - as well as address ethical dilemmas of fieldwork in the CIS. The workshop will be particularly useful to early career researchers and PhD/Masters students. It will also present opportunities for networking.

The workshop is supported by the Russian and Eurasian Security Working Group of the British International Studies Association (BISA).
