The Soviet-Romanian Clash over History, Identity and Dominion

This is a collection of documents by historian Larry Watts, who translated several documents from the Moldovan archives from 1977-1980.
These documents were originally published on the Web site of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, together with a detailed introduction by the author.
Larry Watts’ work sheds new light on Moscow’s view of the variety and importance of Soviet-Romanian differences during 1977-1980. The documents address a number of issues related to the difficult relationship between Soviet and Romanian leaderships, including their frequent clashes of interests and Romania’s position within the communist bloc
